Cozumel Tot Wrestler

A gift to Kai from Uncle Bones from his vacation in Cozumel. At first Kai was a bit scared of it and then he later chased after me around the house with fists waving in the air such as what you see in this picture.
~
Thanks Fredi!
Fredi (aka Uncle Bones) at Cozumel
Fredi with Marianna, who works at the resort and who I see a lot in his photos on his Cozumel trip and past trips to Cozumel. Say, Fredi - is she "the one"???

Where's George? ( President George Washington)

Answer: Everywhere, other than being dead as we all know!
I was at the car wash and pulled out a few singles to plug into the token machine when I spotted red ink instructing me to Track This Bill www.wheregeorge.com . After entering the serial number and the year it was made I discovered...

"This bill has travelled 448 Miles in 1 Yr, 142 Days, 7 Hrs, 26 Mins at an average of 0.88 Miles per day. It is now 336 Miles from its starting location as entered in Prospect, Oregon"

And you can continue to track this bill- it would be interesting how far it can go- maybe to China?

I see a FROG!

We had been in our new home in Orinda, CA for about a month now when I had Kai arrange his Thomas trains on the window sill to eliminate some clutter. He barely had enough room for all of his train collection when he announced there was a frog looking at him!
~
I thought he was just making conversation- as we have a brook right next to our house and during the evenings the croaking of frogs was loud enough to lull you to sleep.

And Kai was right, there in the left corner window was a frog peering up at us!

I would like to think this was a different frog that somehow got into the house. I finally caught it in a ziplock bag, after episodes of shrieking when it would jump about trying to escape hopping about the house. It stayed in the container overnight...

... and was my morning surprise for Kai.

This little critter can jump a foot distance easily! And Kai let it loose out the house, saying "so it can go home to it's mommy"

(I would hate to see how big his mommy is! ugh!)

Kai is ready to explore Belize

Kai was ready to hit the sand and run naked outdoors if he could.

And as soon as he got out- he started to explore...

That's our lodge/ thatched home in the background. We had this 2-story complex for 3 families. Gramma and grampa stayed upstairs with Andrew. Dylan, and Antoinette. In fact, the compartment downstairs where Greg, Kai and I, had stayed was fully equipped and was bigger than my first apartment I had lived in.
Kai tries to reach for the top of the Xmas tree light decoration.
Captain Morgan in his watery grave. Our quarters were pool-side. Very convenient- thanks to Mum.
Kai's bodyguard.

Kai finds this big conch shell with nothing living in it.
This is the dock where Temptation Island contestants would film their testimonies.
A beautiful sunset to remember.
(Couch-leaping Kai- video)
Kai and cousin Dylan hang out, watching tv. And every night there was a new entertainer- the one with the Boby Dylan type voice, ruined a lot of songs I liked (not a very good singer).

You Betta Belize It!

December 11, 2008
It took us 3 flights, 1 taxi ride, 1 taxi-boat ride, and a short walk to our final destination- Captain Morgan's Resort in San Pedro, BELIZE!

We flew from big commercial airplanes to small aircraft such as this- and I was about ready to lose my cookies (as I'm signing to Greg).

Kai was quite calm sitting next to daddy, soaking in the views.

So here is a questions for you (as above), what is 1 mile off Belize's shores, and 560 miles long, and is the second largest in the world?

The Belize Barrier Reef, the second largest coral reef system next to the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. And we flew over that.

Closer to landing...

Even closer to landing... we get a view of the homes from overhead.

At last, we land! Kai pulls his Elmo luggage along.

(video- taxi ride to the taxi boat)

But the last leg of our travels involved a boat ride to the resort...ugh- I really want to lose my cookies!
~
(video_ Kai fears falling through the planks)

The taxi boat takes us away to Captain Morgan's.

And Gramma greets us at the dock!

And Kai immediately requests for a Rum punch at the bar (here there are no age restrictions!haha)

Our concierge later takes us on a tour through the resort. Not only are we standing in the resort's newest condos, but we took Belize's (first ever) elevator to get there. In addition, we discovered we were staying at the same resort where the reality tv show, Temptation Island was filmed, about 8 years ago. No wonder things looked familiar here- like the pier and the thatched roof huts. In fact, that was the first time I had ever heard the name "Kai" was from that show.
~
The owner of Captain Morgan has no affiliation with Captain Morgan's Rum, but he did start Tombstone Pizza later to sell that company and start this business.

Having had a long day of travel, we bunkered down to bed and Kai got to sleep in his very own room (with convertible sofa) and slept very well the night.

Early Xmas- Gifts Unwrapped

December 6, 2008
Alejandra and Martin came over armed with Xmas gifts. We opened them early as we would be gone 3 weeks this December on vacation to Belize and Chicago.

Kai was excited to see what he got- and also opened everyone's gift in the process.

I got this hot red bathing suit for the Belize weather!

Kai got a book with illustrations...

And Greg got a pair of micro-fiber sweat-wicking shorts. Boy, was he a happy camper- as this was exactly what he wanted!
