Kayak Brooks Island on the longest day of the year
I think it's been a year since we last kayaked as it appears time flied by so fast. So the big difference is that Kai is older and braver and tries to help out with the paddling. He is also good at standing at the helm holding unto the kayak ropes perhaps in preparation for future kite surfing like his daddy.
So at the Richmond Marina we head out towards Brooks Island on the east side of San Francisco and paddle past ships.
Kai tows daddy to shore?
The boys run up and down the beach saying "ouch-ouch, Hot-Hot!" while smart me wears flip-flops.

Greg and Kai.
On the return, we pass the ship, Victory.
And then we head out to the Coast Guard boat, and end up being videotaped by the Coast Guard there.

The good thing, as hot as this day was (98 degrees at home, 83 degrees by the water), nothing life-changing happened. For example, on June 21, the longest day of the year, 2003 I broke my ankle in a motocross accident and was helicoptered out to a hospital. Then on June 21, 2006- it was confirmed I was pregnant with Kai!

So I sorta worried what would happen today- like perhaps our kayak may sink? or I would drown? haha. Anyway I survived solstice day, today!
