"1964" The Tribute to the Beatles
After frantically trying to finish up work at the physical therapy clinic to catch a flight in the afternoon, I somehow managed to pack another bag of Xmas gifts to take back to Chicago for my family. Kai insisted on bringing his own Elmo carry-on and Sprocket stuffed dog, and practically took off leaving me behind at the security check in. He was almost on the escalator before I could catch him. You see, Kai also loves airplanes and gets so focused on being able to board one.
We arrived closed to midnight and my sister Cheri picked us up and went toWhite Castles via drive-thru to get "sliders" (another name for burgers, which supposedly makes you want to crap- at least that's what my brothers tell me). Just as we were waiting for our meal, a plane flies overhead so closely you could see the bottom of the craft (and probably touch it if you stood on the roof of the house). It really surprised us to see a jet land that way- but it was the customary route, and I felt sorry for the residents that have to deal with that 300 times a day?
The next morning, Cohen comes barging through our bedroom door and points to a sleeping Kai in the play pen, "What's that in there?" he asks. I could only laugh out loud. Kai awakes and is not only shy but clingy. He practically pulls my PJs off my waist. And to my pleasant surprise Hope appears to remember me, as she stretches out her arms for me to hold her!
Hope is in a session with her occupational therapist "Tutu" who uses the toy blocks for therapy we had just given her as a little gift
I am pleased to find that Hope is able to move about the house, rolling, sitting, crawling, and pulling herself to standing with and without the ankle foot orthotics.
Then I go outside to find these boys who somehow got stuck in the tree. I place them in the wagon and we head out with Adira, to Dairy Queen to get some chocolate dipped ice cream cones. The boys make a fantastic mess of theirselves, and I have difficulty talking to Adira who has ice cream on the tip of her nose. What a distraction- but thank goodness for wet wipes!
Later that evening, I drive to the grocers and make an awesome salad of blueberries, oranges, mixed with butter lettuce, poppyseed dressing and bell pepper. We head out to the Marie Irwin park in downtown Homewood and have a family picnic with my mom, nieces and nephew, and all my siblings with their girlfriends.
My youngest brother (26 y/o) appears with his girlfriend Dawn.
Cheri bought tickets for the "1964" Tribute to the Beatles and Derek was informed he could not operate a grill in the vicinity. So he easily took it across the street to the apartment complex and grilled us these excellent sausages stating that Greg would be so proud of him. Funny thing though, he also had his girlfriend Jen make up a dish for a couple of starved-looking guys out there. They had seen him roll the grill in and hung around hoping for a meal.
Here's Derek operating the mobile bar!
Mom with Fredi who always likes to make faces at the camera. Jen and Derek finally get to eat.
The Beatles- YEAH! I was enjoying the act when Fredi grabbed my hand and whips me around to dance.
