Bodega Bay Birthday
Bodega Bay
June 30, 2007 Saturday
Just an 1.5 hour drive north from our house we camped overnight at Bodega Bay. With the ocean on one side and the bay on the other, you could literally walk to both sides in a few hundred feet. However on our arrival, Bodega Bay was overcast with intermittent patches of sunlight breaking through grey fog. As the day went on, the winds picked up and the temperature dropped.
The twins join us- Dylan and Sierra with their porter-mom.
That's Dylan and Kai in high grass for cover from the winds.
A small group of our friends braved camping with us and with their children. It wasn't "true" camping as we were huddled in our van camper pop-top and tent campers. The real campers Ale and Martin (Kai's godparents and DINKS- double income no kids) braved the very cold and windy night in a tent. And were they smart! I noticed they relocated their tents further away from our vehicles (so as not to hear the crying babies). Soon they were tucked away in the trees...
Alejandra and Martin staked-out under the trees and far from the rest of us with children.
Lukas and Kai fighting over the dog's water bowl, as Toby watches them seemingly with ridicule.
Ute, Me, and Christy. Kai is asleep in my arms after getting a margharita via my booby. Ute is asking for a drink too.
So I try to give her one!
Lukas shows dad the right way to grill- like how a "real" man should.
The Bienert family...chomp-chomp-chomp...burp! (German beer)
Since Lukas likes to bully others. They ganged up and showed him the works. Dylan pushed him over Sierra who tripped him, and Kai kicked him in the gut. Lukas laid there stunned. What goes around comes back twice as hard! heehee.
Greg cuts his 40th birthday cake that Ute made from scratch! Yummy! Unfortunately it was too windy to light the candles but Greg gets another birthday celebration filled with good food, good friends, and neat gifts. And of course, he got to kitesurf also.
Greg receives a German stein and German beer from a German friend- GEEZ, how much more German can this get?
Chicken Ute , too cold to brave the outdoors, so she turns in for the night (at 9ish on a Saturday night!) Well, you know old people do need a lot of rest and sleep...
And while Kai and I sat out there in the cold, Ale and Martin cuddled up in their car doing God-knows-what!? EWWW are they kissing? Don't they know they could get babies that way?
