Kai and I hit the garage sales this morning and came across this huge 6 foot puzzle which he immediately assembled.

Then we headed over to pick-up godmother Ale who invited us over for the SPCA Halloween event in Dublin where she volunteers to take care of dogs. That's Kai in his costume- THING 1.

This place was unlike most SPCA's being huge, new, and more like a gallery,

as evidenced by the art pieces on display.

Even the dogs were dressed for the occasion!
And even Greg was working on his little art project...tootsie roll spiders!
At every turn there would be a bowl of chocolates for Kai to choose and pick from to put into his goody bag.

Kai even made the popcorn witch hands, soon to be eaten within minutes.

And afterwards we just hung out at the front of the building( and thought about putting Kai up for adoption!- haha.) Really to enjoy the outdoors before dark.
Then we drove over to Emerald Park in Dublin and let the Thing loose.
Kai ran over this boy twice (heck, he kept jumping in the way) and then tempted Daddy into pushing him into the water (see his foot in that second picture?)- Hey, there's really a mermaid in there!
Kai kicks back and relaxes.
We returned to Ale's home to celebrate her birthday and feasted on fillet Mignon and a Swedish cake afterwards- YUM!
You still look great Ale- not bad for an old woman, you!

Trick-o-Treat in Walnut Creek

So after the Halloween party, we drove to Daddy Greg's office in Walnut Creek and slept in the car a good hour (me too, really) before getting an " I don't feel so good" daddy to join us in the festivity.

Kai searched the office for daddy...

... and peered through windows in hopes to find him...

...he then got distracted by the pop machine, and signed for a "drink"...

...and thought he'd look in the restroom for daddy, but decided not to having seen the weird pictures on the door...

...and at last! He sees daddy in his office behind a pile of papers, and runs into his arms! (This is where you say awwww!!!)
So at the Broadway Plaza mall, the candy quest began at 5pm. It started with Red Riding Hood who was handing out Big Bad Wolf chocolate eyeballs to Elmo Kai.

Kai ate an eyeball, and went back for 2nd and 3rds...Red Riding Hood had a hard time saying no even when I asked her to...
So after a chocolate and a lollipop, Kai threw another full-blown tantrum in front of the Lucky Brand Jeans store when I took his M&M handout. He literally spun around and screamed and cried, and ran around in circles! (I wish I could have gotten that on video!)

OOOH - a Witch Hat sale! I need one!

Kai attempts to break into this candy piece.

I tell him it's healthier to eat turkey meat instead...
Is Elmo doing his business in the bushes?

Cookie Monster points at Elmo and is accusative "You took the lime light from me! You took my audience!"

Elmo is having a sugar down, and needs to sit a bit. He sticks the lollipop on his head for safe-keeping.

"Happy Halloween!!!

It's time for you to go home now- I've run out of candy...sorry. But really...go home now..."

"Byyyye"

Caught Taking Rice Krispies- Elmo Behind Bars!

Sunday, October 28

And if that wasn't enough, Elmo Kai was also caught snatching pumpkins!

Here's Kai trying to conceal his true identity from the press.

We went to Moraga to attend a Halloween school fair.

But it was a bit overwhelming for him. There were so many kids, and too much noise that he preferred to be outside. Plus I think the Grim Reaper on the stage in the back may have intimidated him.

Elmo Kai watches everyone with curiosity.

Elmo parades around in Orinda.

While I was in the bathroom, I could hear Kai shriek in anger. Lo and behold, he put himself into a tight situation that he couldn't get out of. I could have left him there for awhile just to keep him contained but you now how that goes...

Later that morning we went to the Orinda Community Center and walked in a parade with at least a hundred other little kiddies dressed in their Halloween attire.

Mama and Kai.

Elmo Kai parades around the park fascinated with the other children's costumes.
Again, kids were pointing out to Elmo Kai as were their parents.
Elmo tries to get a drink from the water fountain.
Elmo Kai tries to make a quick getaway.
Afterwards, there were cookies and apple juice. A photographer from the Contra Costa Times came along and took pictures of Elmo trying to grab cookies off the table, the pictures may be in tomorrow's newspaper in the Lamorinda Sun, as he wrote down our names.
Kai then had a pumpkin tattoo placed on his hand and cheek.
And off to daycare we went with balloons to share with other children there.
Whew! Another day packed with fun for Kai (and me).
