Tigo class nature hunt/walk

Tigo class today was special. We went on a nature walk through San Pablo city in search of plants, flowers, shells, etc. for a nature project.

We walked across the bridge to the Alvarado Adobe Historic building. which I never knew about (and I used to work at the hospital about a block away!)
We came upon this fountain...
... and then this grand one. Before I realized it, Kai was soaked! He was happily playing with the water! (and drinking it too despite my warnings.)
Turns out he was the only boy in this class. And he took advantage of it too, chasing after the girl with the mini-skirt around the plaza. Thank goodness she was a fast runner, I'm not sure what Kai would have done to her?
So back at Tigo class, Kai gets out of hand with the paintbrush and glue. Not only does he get it all over me- but on himself just as well, which I believe he purposely did it so that he could wash his hands in the sink, over and over again...
Ta-Dah! His completed nature work of art along with a new hairstyle (again, from playing with the water at the sinks).
Home again. I took this picture just in case my phone camera did not work out as well.

Tigo class artwork for party this Sat.

Given the theme of "community" to design a poster board. Kai came up with this idea of having his hand drawn all over it (to signify hands-on and togetherness?). And upon completion presented his artwork to the class.

Kai's artwork will be used for First Five's 1st year anniversary party this Saturday along with the rest of his classmates.

* I think Kai likes Ms. Renee a lot (his zoophonics instructor). He kept escaping from class today to either run down the hall to visit and several times ran outside to peek and yell "Hi !!!" "Hello!" to Ms. Renee through the open window while she was teaching class. She couldn't help but laugh and say "that's my boy Kai!"

Tigo Class: Playdo, fish, acting

Kai kept washing his hands to the point of me having to drag him away. He was excited about a sink at his level.
Tuesday May 6, 2008
Kai started his 4-class series of Tigo. The instructor started off with reading a book to the children, had the parents watch a video about Tigo, then Kai acted out his storybook part...K is for karate, which Kai did his karate kicks in front of class (of course, I had practiced with him beforehand). Then he worked with playdoh, built blocks, and decorated and cut out this fish.

I was surprised that they had given every child a bag of goodies. We went home with a canvas bag with a can of playdoh, scissors, a storybook, a lion puppet, and a Tigo DVD - for free.

Tigo instructs the parent how to be their child's primary teacher, and how to interact in play. So if your child wants you to read that same book over and over again- do it. Tigo believes that's how they take an interest in reading. Also act out the characters part by doing things with them at their level- that's how they learn fast by adult example.
