Escape to Salt Lake City, UTAH

Sticker says "got hope?"

May 4-5, 2008
I was forced to leave my family for the weekend for another business course in Salt Lake City. I tried to convince Greg to drive there and to spend the weekend, but we later agreed that it wouldn't be fair to Kai, as he could barely tolerate a couple hours in the car (so we couldn't imagine 14 hours!)

My crazy sis and mom. They tried to make feel better by sending me this text message, which I had opened on the airplane (they knew I was depressed about leaving my family). When the message played loud, causing me to laugh out loud also, and made everyone look my way. So I thought I'd share...love their faces!
So I stayed at the Sheraton and was upgraded to an executive suite. I had complained that my standard room smelled like smoke, and the light and phone were inoperable. So here I was now saddened that this place had a lot of room for Kai to play.

The next morning I ordered breakfast in and dragged myself to class...

The Scott Mattheson Courthouse with tulips in foreground.

Rather than bore you about "work", at lunch-time and after class, I had the opportunity to check out both good and bad parts of the city.

The City and County Building.

You can walk through this waterfall archway to the "asteroid" featured here. I thought an asteroid would be called a meteor instead once it landed on Earth?

Where the 2002 Winter Olympics were held.

I got to feature on the Channel 2 news last night. I was the fool girl jumping in the background (kidding!)

X marks the spot! Where the first electric traffic signal was posted in the US.

Those glorious mountains!

Salt Lake City was different this time. Perhaps because I had seen it by foot, instead of by car, or short stops. This is my 3rd time here- and definitely a different experience again.
