Chicago- the real Gotham City!

Cheri took off a work day to take me to Chicago. We walked from her house to the train station, which of course Kai was excited about wearing his pin-stripped top and engineer hat. Here we are at the pit stop in Chicago. I took this picture particularly because Batman- the Black Knight was filmed here on a motorcycle chase.
The Water Tower Place where Oprah Winfrey lives/ed and where I used to work for a law-firm. That's the John Hancock towering behind. I bought Adira's school shoes at the Walking Company at the Tower, and she was so excited that no other classmate would have the same pair. I was amazed to find that her feet is bigger than mine for an 11 year old girl (size 8). Afterwards, we had lunch and Uncle Matthew joined us after his shift. I also had to pay for an apple that Kai grabbed from the fruit stand and ate before I could stop him. That apple cost me $1.06!
While we were on our way to Navy Pier, I got invited to Fire House no.98, they had been servicing the Chicago residents for over 100 years. Again Kai was just mesmerized by these red engines and had no problem clambering into the truck.

STOP DROP & ROLL lolly.

A driftwood sculpture.

Museum of Contemporary Art- perhaps Devo got their style from the artist or vice versa?
Anyway, "Whip it! Whip it GOOD!", as DEVO would say.

In honor of the two movie critics of Chicago.

I love this mural!

Finally at Navy Pier, Cohen decides to sit his toosh on a little girls face.

Kai heps this girl with a gag-reflex.

Ring around the posies, and we all are falling down?

Taken before the Children's Museum at Navy Pier. Navy Pier is another site where Batman was filmed, where 2 ferries full of people were to be blown to bits!

See me in the mirrored ball?

See me now?

A new statue by the WGN and Chicago Tribune building.

The new Trump building that is erected not too far off Michigan Avenue.
Fredi's idea of a sense of humor, a doormat at his house entrance. And you'd think he was (n't) paronoid?

By 3:30, I left Kai with my mom and sister's family at Navy Pier as I had to get back to Homewood via train to catch the Batman movie with my brothers Derek and Fredi and Jen. So it was really nice to be treated to a movie at the IMAX and seeing scenes of Chicago in it after just having left the city.

I received a text message from Cheri with a picture of Kai on the train ride to home time stamped 9:15 pm! I thought they'd be home by late afternoon. He had gotten home maybe just about an half hour before me and was already bathed and in his PJs. Cheri said he had a blast being able to ride another Thomas Train attraction there at Navy Pier. My little party boy! Nana also told me that when Kai learned that I would no longer be around, he would grab her hand and take her around the attractions... and that he was extremely good- unlike his bad-self when I'm present.

Later that evening, Cheri and I came down with sniffles and body aches...
