Greg's first competition in Kitesurfing
August 30, 2007
While I was dealing with a patient with a bleeding hand crushed by a metal pallet and while Kai was terrorizing the daycare employees (they said he fits his "My Name is TROUBLE" t-shirt)- Greg was out having the time of his life!
Kitesurfer in comparison to the size of those cargo ships!
Greg entered his very first kitesurfing competition at Crissy Field near the Golden Gate Bridge. He competed with some of the nations top kitesurfers, totalling 21 competitors. Since he was unfamiliar with the starting signals, he got a late start in the race and came in 16th place. In the second race, he misjudged his tack to a marker, then dropped his kite- by then 6 kitesurfers passed him, but he still did better than the first race- he came in 13th place.
Afterwards Greg got invited to the St. Francis Yacht Club for being a competitor. This place is located on one of the most expensive real estate areas in the Bay Area!
After all, you do get breath-taking views like this one!
Greg is looking forward to entering future kitesufing competitions! I'm proud that he at least placed! YEAH!!!
