A special doll for Hope

I met this lady at a city event from Point Richmond who sold handmade Cabbage Patch dolls (well, at least they reminded me of those dolls that were once popular 20 years ago). So as a baptismal gift for my niece Hope, I had one custom-made with blue eyes and dark hair because my mother thinks that Hope's eyes were on the blue side.

Kai was a bit fearful of these dolls and was about to cry. These pictures were placed in what I called a "HOPE" box similar to a "hope" chest given to daughters who are about to be married, filled with necessary items of having a successful marriage (i.e. linen, pictures, silverware, heirlooms). In Hope's box, it contains a birth announcement card, a music shoebox, and pictures, and probably stuff from her baptism also- and whatever else her parents want it to contain.
Cheri opens Hope's baptism gift and freaks out with this doll (I had it in a clear plastic bag- ya know the rule- keep plastic away from children)
...and laughed when she saw the embroidery on the doll's bottom...
...and now the doll watches over Hope in her crib.
